30 Day Writing Challenge

#3. One Strong Belief by Buster Benson

It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude. - Ralph Waldo Emerson, Self-Reliance

The world is powered by passionate people, powerful ideas, and fearless action. What’s one strong belief you possess that isn’t shared by your closest friends or family? What inspires this belief, and what have you done to actively live it?
(Author: Buster Benson)

Being a lifelong learner is a centerpiece to my journey through life. Although I was already actively seeking knowledge, I began to understand that it was a part of my fabric at a Mike Vance seminar on Creative Leadership. Mike said, “You will be the same person tomorrow as you are today except for the books you read and the people you encounter.” Mike fueled the fire within me.

I have a growing, endless curiosity about a wide variety of subjects and I am fascinated with passionate people and powerful, intriguing ideas. I read constantly, search the internet for information as I focus on particular subjects, and regularly dialogue with people. TED Talks is an outstanding website. I spend time mentoring people one on one and in groups. I have found that I receive more than I give in these relationships. Some would say this constant learning quest is an obsession . . . I prefer to think of it as a passion!
